The History of January 22, 1973:

Jane Roe, a Dallas bar waitress, is one amongst the ordinary women who unfortunately had to give up their child for adoption, due to the difficulty of circumstances. Mary Doe, whos child was promptly adopted, along with Jane Roe “Mary Doe, whos child was promptly adopted, along with Jane Roe” sued the Texas Court to express their anger at the inadequate accessibility of primary health rights for women”. After an extensive period of fighting the former Associate of Justice of the Supreme Court, by a majority opinion of 7-2, rejected the Texas law forbidding abortions. Abortions were only ruled necessary in order to save the life of a mother. Conclusively, Roe V Wade was passed which declared that it is a fundamental right of a woman to establish her own choices regarding marriage, contraception, family relationships, and education.

Though it was the primary goal to protect a woman’s right to basic health care, the value of Roe V Wade varied for different levels of pregnancy. This signifies that abortion during the first trimester ( 13 weeks) is permitted. If abortions are over the course from week 14 to 26, the court may impose reasonable restrictions to protect the health of the mother. After the second trimester, when the fetus reaches the vitality period, access to abortions could be shut off entirely.

The Regression in History for Roe V Wade:

The regression of action ruled by the Supreme Court Justices reasoned its ruling because, “abortions represent a profound moral question”. According to the Speaker of the United States of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy expressed, “ The power to protect the unborn life is returned to the people ''. In the opinionated statement of an unborn life by McCarthy, a referred unborn life signifies a single-cell human zygote.

Sacramento Mayor’s perspective towards the the new law:

“Another dark day for our country. Courts historically stand tall when they protect individual rights, not strip them away. Not this Supreme Court. In one day, this court has taken away 50 years of women’ right to choose her own reproductive freedom, including abortion. We must fight like never before to win back the fundamental freedoms that all women deserve.”

Gavin Newsom, the governor of California, appeared in a video with the leaders of Oregon and Washington to declare the beginning of the "West Coast offense" for reproductive freedom. In the video Newsom posted, he expresses how disappointing it is to witness the situation. Ultimately, Newsom states that this system will further protect individuals, from any states, seeking reproductive health care, including abortions and contraceptives. The overturn of Roe V Wade disproportionately affects marginalized communities who may not have access to safe and legal abortion care, leading to further inequities and injustices.
